OMAHA, Nebraska (AP) --
A man suspected of dealing drugs accidentally paged an undercover narcotics officer -- and sold him crack cocaine, police said.
"He missed the (intended) beeper number by one number," Sgt. Mark Langan said.
The 20-year-old man, whose name was not available Saturday from a police spokesman, paged the officer a few weeks ago, police said.
"The officer could tell by the terminology the guy was using that he might be a drug dealer," Langan said. "He asked the guy if he knew anything about drugs and the guy indicated he was a drug dealer and that he sold large amounts of crack cocaine."
The officer set up a deal and bought a quarter-ounce of crack cocaine from the man, Langan said. At a second meeting Friday, he bought another ounce for $1,400, then arrested the man and a 23-year-old man with him.
Police said they found a digital scale with cocaine residue on it at the man's house.
"Based on this guy's luck," Langan said, "I wouldn't want to go to Las Vegas with him."
